Flexibility more prized than being in-person
Both flexibility and seeing colleagues in person are at least somewhat important to employees, but 81% of people ranked flexibility as very important, while only 30% of people said the same about in-person meet-ups.
Demand for collaboration increased
Survey results show that being in person matters most for building relationships and trust.
That may explain why we saw meeting room bookings increase 24% in the second half of 2023 compared to 2022.
Workplace no longer means "office"
11% of employees report working from coffee shops and third spaces, and 16% work from company-sponsored coworking spaces.
27% of employees say they work from several different locations when not working at home, showing our workplaces are no longer a dichotomy but a spectrum of possibilities.
Getting together is hard
Only 30% of our survey respondents say it's very or somewhat easy to coordinate working together in person with their colleagues, while 38% find it somewhat or very hard.
Flexibility has introduced more complexity into the employee experience of “finding their friends.” Making it easy to find and collaborate in person, regardless of work location, should be a top priority for companies in 2024.
